I guess this little piggy got itself a makeover – at whose hands, I’m not sure (Arabic appears to make retranslating into English somewhat more dramatic?). The Policeman version of the Ladybird series ‘People at Work’ has been rather subtly altered from its 60s original. Perhaps too subtle? I was kind of shocked upon first reading it, but I’m rather gullible and it’s definitely a joke (albeit one very underwritten with social realities). The full scanned book be seen here

I initially saw this at green is the new red, but it seems to be floating around. It’s interesting to see what different people have seen (or framed) the redone book to be reflecting or commenting on, from the ‘War on Terror’ to transphobia to police brutality, and so on.
| And at that, does anyone remember Ladybird? Hopefully not just a postco former-commonweallth thing. I came across a Flickr group with wonderful scanned vintage covers. A recent-ish post by style raven also made me supernostalgic for Danish butter cookies ahh! | ![]() |
