In Dubai now/ a quick DIY.Buttons sewn onto black laceish topshop shoes. Buttons are kind of exciting; there’s so much that can be done with them. And a gorgeous lace + mother of pearl buttoned/ pearled shawl that someone gave my mother but she’ll never wear so I shall yay. Here, I’ve been mostly watching IPL cricket for good part of every evening, something somewhat novel. I get back to NYC in 2 days and I am told my (free!) summer housing room is has a cotton pink door and a cream circa puke linoleum floor. This could also be exciting. Also some gratitutous fish pictures from an anternoon traipsing around Karama.

the first makes me slightly sad because I don’t fit it anymore. at least, being able to breathe in it oh dear. the second, I worried that the fabric (some kind of brocaded denim) would be too stiff but it is fabulously imposing. though I may add in another layer of shoulder pads. ditto with the giraffey third one. and the fourth is love, absolutely. though it seems they don’t make ultralong zips here. is it still consumerism if you theoretically make it yourself?

an obvious HOH rip. I feel like this fits my mood (sorely lacking in radicredentials) a bit better. bits of scraps and fabric glue, this took surprisingly longer than I thought. and I’m reminded of the hold steady lyric:
“i know what my weaknesses are / probably better than you do / revolutionary chinese propaganda / the color of blue / i thought i knew what / my weaknesses were anyway / then the orange tree blossomed last saturday / there was nothing in it but pain for me

I’m a little excited about against me! at the beginning of sept. do you remember ‘36?

Die fetten Jahre sind vorbei "The fat years are over"

aka The Edukators, a film I’ve been itching to see after coming across a quote “every heart is a revolutionary cell. Cue a painted hoodie (how did I never realise I had gold paint before?)/ drawing (to be redone).
